A Glorious Sunday

So before I get into talking about my Thanksgiving, I wanted to be able to record my beautiful Sunday. This past Sunday was absolutely wonderful. I woke up at 8:30 (for church at 9), got dressed, and went back to bed until it was time for church (I love my sleep). Sunday was filled with fabulous lessons and talks, then post-church arrived. I had Visiting Teaching Interviews in which I got to meet with some of the ladies of the Relief Society individually. During these interviews, I had finally understood what people meant when they would say, "I may not know most of  you, but I love you." I love these ladies' testimonies and spirits. I am really grateful for my calling and ward. At the end of the day/night,  I talked to my dear roommate about life and my testimony of the gospel, and all was well. :)

A simple, yet glorious day.

The Spontaneous California Trip

So let me shed some light on how this spontaneous trip occurred. My dear New Zealand friend/neighbor, Elijah, was planning on driving out to California to pick his cousin. I naturally wanted to join. And my dear friend Angela (mentioned in an earlier post) was going to be going, as well. I asked Elijah if I could join, and he told me that there should be room for me at about 2am the day they were planning on leaving. Thus, the spontaneity. So we left later that afternoon, literally right after helping the kind lady (mentioned in the previous post). Anyways, I'll mention the highlights of the trip...
We had to go through Arizona (where I'm from) and after the desert sunset view, I started to miss home even more than I was before.
We drove to Las Vegas and walked about the strip for a couple of hours, and were introduced to this rockin place called Canes. :)

After we made it to California and found Elijah's cousin, we decided to go to Hollywood and Santa Monica beach the next day. :)

Finally, we headed to Huntington Beach, where we walked around some stores before heading back to Provo. :)

A Glorious Morning

Let me tell you about a glorious morning I had the past Thursday. First of all, I had taught my PE class again which went a lot smoother than last week, so there was improvement! Second of all, I had decided to join a few of my friends on a trip to California in which we were to leave that Thursday afternoon (after my class). As I had waited for my friends to give me the okay to leave, my dear roommate Charlotte had invited me to take a walk with her. I agreed as it seemed to be a lovely morning (and I love spending time with her). We had gone down to the end of the street to show me a beautiful front yard covered in [dying] plantation and an amazing treehouse in the backyard. This treehouse was definitely worth the walk. There were windows and everything.
As we were walking back home on this street, we passed an older woman looking very confused by a ladder in her front yard. We gave our greetings and asked if she wanted help. She hesitatingly said no, so of course, we join her on her yard and help her. We helped her lift the ladder against this tall bush to the left of her house, and hold onto it as she climbs up to remove ropes that were attached to it (binding). It was quite terrifying to think that she was about to try this on her own. I think we were all grateful that we were there to help. She is a beautiful lady from Germany and full of the spirit. I will be sure to visit her soon. :)

Hanging with Angela

Let me tell you, my friend Angela is awesome! These events happened last weekend and it was such a blast!
First, we spent some time in Salt Lake City - exploring, taking photos, shopping, and eating. Eating is a must.

The next day, she rescued me from my woes as we shopped for her art supplies and ate some more!

This girl is awesome! I wish you all luck in finding a friend as awesome as her! ;)

My best friend, Heather.

I know that I literally just posted some updates, but I'd like to take some time to write a post about one of my best friends. Her name is Heather Bybee. She has seriously been such a blessing in my life, and I am grateful to be a part of her life, as well.
I discovered Heather's photos before I met her. I fell in love with her photography, then I fell in love with her. Just kidding. Kind of. Not really. ANYways, we became friends on Facebook so that I could stalk all of her beautiful photos, transferred high schools, and discovered that she was in my seminary class! My initial thoughts were: 1) She's probably older than me. 2) She's too cool, and I'm too weird.
Next thing I know, she comes up to me after school and tells me, "Hey, did you know that your cousin is coming back from Hawaii?" What. I knew that I had a cousin who was living in Hawaii, but I heard nothing of him coming back. I went home, asked my mom about it, and she told me, "Yeah! He is! How did you hear about that?" "This random girl from my seminary class told me." So I talked to Heather the next day to get the story from her (which is super great and funny; perhaps I'll share it sometime), and we've been friends ever since!

She is a really uplifting person, and I learned to love myself a lot more from her. While she taught me that I can be beautiful when my self-esteem was pretty low, she taught me that there are a lot of good qualities that I should recognize myself. No, I'm not trying to sound conceited. I'm trying to sound like I have self-confidence. I like being able to say "I am a good person" and know it. And Heather helped me to find that in myself.

When people see that Heather takes pictures of me, I always feel like they probably think,"Oh, you're so lucky. You're best friend is a photographer so you probably just do photoshoots all the time." I mean, yeah we'll do photoshoots sometimes, but for the most part, we're too busy being weird, and eating food all the time.
Ihop after a hike
Which reminds me. After we became best friends, I realized that yeah, she's kinda cool, but she's mostly just weird. <3 Probably weirder than I am.
She probably won't like that I'm posting this on the internet... Hahaha
Anyways, the reason for this post, is because 1) I love her. Like, a lot. 2) She's currently on her mission in Provo, UT (where I am living), and I miss her SO MUCH. You're probably thinking, "Why don't you just go see her?" Well, the point of her mission is to be serving the Lord. I'd feel like she's serving me more than the Lord, unless we saw each other in coincidental/fateful circumstances. And it's difficult to just be like, "Hey Heather! Let's hang out!" I love that she's serving a mission, but I've recently been finding it hard that she's so close yet so far. </3 I love you, Heather Feather! I can't wait to go on adventures with you again after March 2015! Keep on keeping on!~

Endless Updates!

This past week has been busy, but most excellent! Just a few pieces of happiness though...
For FHE, we had our ward Thanksgiving Feast, in which my dear friends made turkey hands! It's silly, but I am seriously in love with "Gob with the Wind."

Next, my classmates and I went to Big Lots to get a few things we needed for our PE class. There, I found what I wanted for Christmas.
Elvis covered, guitar-shaped, popcorn-filled wonderfulness

My PE teaching partner, Preston!
Then, I taught my first PE class ever! I am teaching 6th graders in Springville, and they were a lot more awesome than I had feared.
Megan's like a planet with all of those hula-hoops!
These photos were from a couple of days before my PE teaching, but it was way cool! Evelyn (my roommate) and I went over to our friend, Angela's, house to help her with her homework. In other words, dropping powdered chalk-filled glass ornaments from her window onto a piece of poster board.

Finally, I got a letter!!! :D HALLELUJAH

This update is probably kind of lame, but it's seriously what helped me get through this busy, sleep-deprived week! TENDER MERCIES.

This is Halloween

So, my Halloween night went well! I went to a free dance, which was super fun until it got so crowded that you couldn't really dance... Then I went to work! It was definitely just fun being in costumes with the coolest coworkers ever!

McKay makes one fantastic White-Mexican?
Andy is using the air coming from the gym to make his cape fly
And now if you'll excuse me, I must attempt to complete my project on 4 hours of sleep.
